A clinical trial on the patient’s phone
Insylio connects clinics running clinical trials with their patients. We designed and are building a web dashboard for staff and a mobile app in which patients check their visits, fill in forms and message the trial team.

Challenge
A patient in a clinical trial has visits, medication and surveys to keep track of for many months.
The site needs to know whether the patient took their dose, completed a form and will come to the visit, and the patient needs a simple place to see all of this and quickly report a worrying symptom.
We are delivering the project in stages. The first stage produced a dashboard for clinics and a mobile app for patients with chat and adverse event reporting. The platform is ultimately meant to meet HIPAA requirements.
One trial plan, two sides
What the site sets up in the dashboard, the patient sees in the app.
- 01
Trial schedule
The site sets treatment periods, weeks, visits, time windows and costs.
- 02
Visits in the calendar
The patient sees the date, location and guidelines, and can request a new date.
- 03
Forms and medication
The app reminds the patient about doses and surveys, and the answers go to the site.
- 04
Contact
Chat with the trial team and adverse event reporting in a few steps.
First sign-in
Password, PIN and quick sign-in, followed by a dashboard with forms, medication and the next visit.
Trial visits
A calendar with the visit window, details with guidelines and rescheduling without calling the site.
Forms and contact
Trial details, forms for a given day, adverse event reporting and chat with the team.
Dashboard for clinics
Site staff plan the trial, look after patients and see what needs attention.
Site dashboard
One screen shows the number of patients in trials, adverse events, visits that need intervention and no-shows. A weekly visits chart splits them into confirmed, unconfirmed and planned, with a calendar of the day’s visits alongside.
Visit calendar
Day, week and month views with filters by staff, patient, trial, status and time.
Patient profile
Patient details, site and trial, with tabs for visits with costs, forms, adverse events, notifications, documentation, messages and medication.
Trial schedules
The site describes a trial as a schedule: a screening period, successive treatment periods and follow-up. Each week has a trial day, a visit, a time window and a cost, all editable in a table.
Scope of work
UX/UI
Design of the web dashboard for clinics and the mobile app for patients.
Development
A dashboard in Laravel, Vue.js and GraphQL on PostgreSQL, and a Flutter mobile app for iOS and Android.
Next stages
Communication automation, email, push and SMS reminders, survey reports, invoicing and consents, with HIPAA compliance in mind.
